looking for cornwall with better weather!

specifically surfing/bodyboarding beaches but more chance of hot weather...
we have done barbados (downside is its longhaul and expensive but fits the bill perfectly). we've also been to bidart (nr biarritz) france which we liked. thinking portugal/southern spain could be options - any recommendations for hotels or areas that might work?

I don't know anything about it but I've heard the Mazarron area of Spain (south of Murcia) described as like Cornwall. Also in Lanzarote we visited a famous surfers's beach, Caleta de Famara in the north of the island. There is a very sporty resort complex near there that is mentioned on here quite a lot -Club La Santa.

Isn't there a really famous surfing beach in morocco?

I wouldn't say Mazarron area is anything like Cornwall as it is actually a desert climate with very little rainfall most if it coming in November. The landscape is more like Mexico and the surrounding countryside was used to film spaghetti westerns. It gets VERY hot in summer but it is a dry not humid heat so not as debilitating.

My parents live in the area and I personally love the climate and countryside but it really cannot be compared to Cornwall!

Oh I see you were talking about surfing beaches!

I have always found the sea in the area usually very calm. Was there last week and the sea was like a millpond. Can't see it being very good for surfing and have never seen any surfers on the beaches.
