Latin quarter Paris

Going to Paris 1st wknd of September with some girlfriends, have heared the Latin quarter is lovely, any advice on not too expensive but not grovelly places to stay? also want to get tickets for the Louvre, can they be bought on line?

Dh and I stayed at the Trianon Rive Gauche when we were in Paris a few years ago - just off Boulevard St Michel so a really great location in a fab area. It was good value for money and absolutely fine - as with many of these type of hotels though it was slightly shabby/worn round the edges in parts (bathroom sealant etc) but I think I would still stay there again.
