study from home to become a massage therapist??????

hi everyone do you think that it's possible to do an online course self study to become a massage therapist.a friend of mine is interested.i went to college and practiced but what do you think?many colleges offer online courses

Can't see how you can learn something so hands on without practical sessions. How would you know if you were doing it right? I tried learning from books but in the end went on a short college course and found I was making all kinds of mistakes.
