Thinking Alton Towers but wondering Thorpe Park/Chessington?

Our children love Alton Towers but it is 6 hours drive. But Thorpe Park and Chessington keep popping into my head. I'm wondering if it would be just as well to go further south to Thorpe Park or Chessington or if we should just do Alton Towers?

Thorpe park is more suited to teens as many rides have high height restrictions. Chessingtons great as you get the zoo and sea life included Lots of ride ranges too

My children are 11 and 14 so sounds like Thorpe Park may be of interest.
