Going tommorrow with ds6 and dd4, plus grandparents. Any tips. Never been before. Will it take a full day or just half do you think.

not a full day. Wear good shoes and take warm clothes.

The dinosaur 'diorama' is dire, but the caves are outstanding

Hope yours don't mind wearing hats as everyone has to wear a safety helmet. We have a seriously cute picture of dd aged 2 in a blue mac with stars on and a yellow safety hat. Also the entrance is v low and it hurts if you hit it, even with a helmet on!

I remember going there as a child. Enjoyed it but it was a long time ago.

Despite the weather we had a good time at the caves. you are right about the bone cave being very low, but it was fine for our children. The weater stopped us from doing the Shire Horse Centre and the petting area, park, so on a nice day could have stayed longer. Painfully slow getting in at the ticket office, despite the queue not being long.
