where to go? where not to go? where to stay? we are there for a week in August (v.v.hot, presumably)

I would recommend a day trip to the volcanic region of Mount Etna, my dc were 12 and 13 at the time really enjoyed it.

We visited two years ago when we were on a cruise so only had one day there. We went to Taormina in the morning and Mount Etna in the afternoon. It was hot in August but fine if you avoid a lot of walking around between about 12.30 and 2.30. I would love to back for a holiday. Have a great trip.
