Oh my God I used to go there as a kid, would have been late 70s early 80s - they had no health and safety whatsoever, we have photos of me playing with a lion cub while there, and my Dad got knocked to the ground by a big cat (think it was some kind of hybrid) they used to walk around the zoo on a lead. I bet it's not that exciting now though Grin

Not like that anymore, no. It's a very good conservation zoo with a big emphasis on primates. Good cafe too.

I have a years pass for DD. They have a great softplay and cafe but I don't think the zoo is that great. At Easter the train, ice cream stands and other cafes may not be open. We tend to kill an hour or so there. But DD is only 2.4 and I'm an adult. Your DD will probably love it.

Yes, there are a lot of primates. I think an elephant just had a baby.

It's not my favourite zoo. Is Yorkshire Wildlife Park too far for you?

VivaLeBeaver · 22/03/2014 19:08

Never been to Twycross, Yorkshire wildlife park is very good.

Though they had a lion fight last month and one of the lions was killed by the others. Which was probably quite exciting but very tragic.

Oh no. I don't remember hearing that in the news.
