August Bank holiday - what can DD and I do?

DH and DS are away at a scout camp over the August Bank holiday weekend so DD (11) and I have Sat-Mon to ourselves.
I would like to do something a bit different but not very expensive.
We both love camping, music and crafty stuff but would be open to all sorts of ideas including city breaks, Eurostar, etc.

Come on Mnetters, I know you can come up with loads of great ideas :)

Have you looked at youth hostels?

Notting hill carnival? great atmosphere and good fun if you are near enough to London. have you done a festival search? could you go camping to one of them? only need to go for a day or two. depends on whether your tweenager is in to music yet or not.

Oh, Notting Hill is a brilliant idea.

Music is a definite yes too - she LOVED the Radio 2 Festival in a Day last year (poor child has been indoctrinated into her mother's taste in music :))

Thank you
Any more?
