Hi

I'm flying out of Gatwick tomorrow with BA and I can't get anyone to tell me if I have to premix my formula milk or if they will let me take it on as the water in the bottles and then a container with the formula powder in it?

I have emailed BA, as cannot get an answer on the phone but no reply!

I want to take 3 bottles so without a cool bag (which I guess you can't take) I don't want to pre mix it.

Anyone know what I'm allowed to do?

Also am I allowed to take a bib, dummy and my dd's favorite teddy? I would guess not......

But you have to take it unmixed don't you otherwise it'll be off within 1 or 2 hours so they only sensible thing is to take boiled water and formula separately. Or SMA ready mixed cartons? No idea what they'll allow or not though atm, cabn you ring them? oh just read that you can't get a reply.

Wasn't sure if they would let me take ready mixed even!!! as it says you have to taste all milk in front of them.... I really not sure and can find nothing on the net to tell me more....

its odd because ive heard you SHOULDNT pre-mix formula... only thing you can do is offer to drink some of the cool boiled water from each bottle, and eat some powder? You might have to buy formula powder on other side of security maybe... I know Heathrow is getting very lax though, a work colleage of my DH argued with the security and then was allowed his rucksack in with him.

i really don't think the authorities have thought this one through. I wouldn't pre-mix especially without cooler facilities and if long haul as well.

i'd probably take ready made cartons and empty bottles.

though is boots open air side yet? that might be an option.

bibs, muslin and dummies are essential in my mind.

could you try emailing / phoning Boots and see if they are selling air side?

The formula companies are advising that you do not take ready made cartons. They say to carry formula powder separately to the water and mix it together on the flight.

They also say that if you take already mixed bottles they must be used within one hour after you have tasted them.

New guidelines say that the water should be carried in a thermos to keep it hot when mixing the formula but I don't think thermos' are allowed.
