I see form the papers that passengers can still buy stuff airside after going therough security, so was wondering whether we could buy comics/colouring/crayons etc? Anyone know?

yes. it was o nthe news last night - you can buy and take on board anything that's for sale airside. nearly every airport has a whsmiths so you should be ok.

Thank goodness for that. So all the fuss about not being able to read on the flight is really only for the US?

I am flying to the USA, on Monday. Have just phoned the airline and airport - neither seemed to have any more information than on the bbc website. They told me that you couldn't buy anything in the shops - not sure if this is just the USA though. No-one can tell me if we can take spare clothes or bibs for our 4 month old!

they said on the news this morning that you could buy stuff in the shops airside as long as you weren't going to the US

The websits all seem to be ratehr confusing. BAA indicates that you can buy, but doesn't say what!
