We're planning s visit to Warwick Castle at the weekend and wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere? Ideally pub with great garden or non-chain type restaurant.

TIA

Ooh I'll give you a bump on this flashingnose.

I'm struggling to think of a pub in Warwick with a decent garden..or even a decent pub

..will ponder for you

the Zetland Arms has a garden

It's near the castle

the castle itself has a restaurant and cafe and snack vans

plenty of scope for picnics

St Nicholas Park is near which has a big range of children's toys and a carousel and boats etc

Also if the weather's nice and you walk up to the market square there are several pubs which have tables outside - continental cafe style - if your children are old enough to sit down rather than wanting to run around (although actually if you've been to the castle they'll probalby be glad of a chance to sit down).

One thing it's worth seeing is the firing of the trebuchet - they only do it twice a day - about 11 and 5 I think, so it's worth getting there in time for the first one if you don't think you'll be staying late enough for the late one.

We're going to be visiting Warwick Castle on our return from the Peak District next Friday. Can't wait!
