DH, DD and I want to stay in one of the new Macdonald Aviemore hotels for 1 night at the end of September. They are quoting £235 for 1 night for the 3 of us!!!!!

I will not pay that for a night in a hotel in Aviemore!!!

Any ideas where to find it cheaper. I would pay around £1oo.

thanks.

Can you look at other dates? Maybe it's so dear because there's a conference on. There's usally a big annual housing conference up there in September, I think.

MrsMuddle · 06/08/2006 23:17

Oh, and the last Monday in September is a Glasgow holiday weekend, so it might be already quite booked up.

Thanks for your replies. Can't change date as DH is running in a race in Inverness on the Sunday, hence the stay.

Been to Colyumbridge- wanted to go to the new hotels to see how they'd been updated since I was last there skiing many many years ago.

Realise there is a problem with school holidays so may not get anything cheap in which case l'll stay at home!!!

thanks anyway!

Re teh Macdonald Hotels - we stayed there last October - think I paid around £ 80 per night B&B - but they pressurised us into staying at the Academy Hotel as "it's ideal for families"!!! - room was relatively small (1 double bed, 1 single and a bed settee), hotel was tatty, no atmosphere. About a 10 minute walk to the swimming pool and 5 mins to the main centre for breakfast. There was no entertainment in teh evening. Would not go back!
