Family hotel in Barcelona in May

We're thinking of staying near the beach at Barcelona for a few days with our two boys (who will be six and three), in the May half-term.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of hotels or apartments? We like to have two separate bedrooms as it's just too hard for everyone to sleep in one room. Nothing too budget please - we like our creature comforts - but it certainly doesn't have to be luxurious. Our ideal would be clean, comfortable, not too cramped, and near the beach, the metro and a few amenities. Anyone?

we stayed in a lovely apartment in placa catalunya. right near where all the buses stopped. much better than a hotel particularly with younger kids. perfect spot for sightseeing and when we were tired we could go back and just relax in space. went out for breakfast a couple of times too. might find its pretty busy though as May half term seems to be really popular with spain.

Thanks guys. After much debate we've decided to go to Paris instead!
