Hello, me and my husband are taking our twins on their first little holiday to the Lake District in a few months, I've done some online research but wondered if anyone could recommend some good places to take the boys? They'll be 15 months old when we go - as yet they're not walking but you never know by then they could be running Grin

South Lakes Wild Animal Park near Ulverston, full of endangered species and not too big to get around, easily done in a morning or afternoon. It's on the hillside so all terrain pushchair territory.

Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam trains just off the A590 take you to Lakeside where you can get a ferry to Bowness and Ambleside. There were a couple of non-functioning engines with faces which I hope are still there, my DS was convinced they were Thomas the Tank engine (at 18 mo!) You can see them from the road.

There is also the Lakeside aquarium, its displays trace the aquatic life from springs down through streams and rivers to lakes and sealife in the estuaries and around the coast.
