Staying at the Atlantis for 6 days with our 2 children aged 6 and 3. Apart from going to the beach and waterpark is there anything else we should be doing???

Wadi bashing is fun. If you are confident you can hire a car, if not get one with a driver.
go over the border into Oman.

Were going to the Atlantis for half term and flying to Mercedes World for the day and going on a half day city tour. Other than that I think there will be enough in the hotel for us. Our family are fish mad so we are looking forward to seeing the aquarium. Do you think you would like a trip into the desert? We read some of the desert trips offered and they sounded similar to one we did in Egypt which we really enjoyed. Have you booked your restaurants yet or waiting until you get there?

Sorry I meant Ferrari World not Mercedes World.

Dubai Mall - Aquarium and Dubai zoo upstairs, boat trip on top of the aquarium.

Kidzania at Dubai mall - a whole world for kids, where they can work in the bank, a a dentist, make a real MacDonald's themselves, make perfume, coke factory, deliver parcels, earn money, work at Waitrose. truly amazing and my dd 8 spends hours upon hours in there!! Then Rainforest café for meal ( no alcohol served here!!!)

Mall of the emirates - Ski Dubai and magic planet full of games and rides

madinat - great hotel and lots for kids to do

Wild wadi water park at the Jumeriah Beach Hotel is definitely better than Atlantis, Atlantis is not geared for little ones as they can hardly go on any of the rides due to height restrictions.

Go to a Friday brunch!!! Dubai must!!! 4 hours of non stop champagne and any other drink u want and every type of food u can possibly imagine( seafood, sushi, pasta stations, satay stations, paella, every meat imaginable cooked to order, kitchens u can walk in and they make anything u want, roast of every kind, tapas, cheese rooms!!!!!!!! magicians coming round doing table magic, acrobats, petting zoos, kids entertainers and 4 hours of drink and best food ever!!!!!

Best ones are the Al quasr, Mina a Salam or bubbalicious at the westin!
approx. £80-90 per adult and half for kids but well worth it.

Dubai has thousands of amazing resturants, so don't restrict yourself to the Atlantis!

Frankies at JBR is amazing ( Frankie detorris and Marco pieree whites )

Ruth Chris Steak House at the Address Marina hotel

Gary Rhodes at the Grovesnor hotel

Grand grill at the Habtoor grand

The beach bar and grill at the One and Only Royal mirage

Benihassi tepenyaki ans the Rotana at JBR

Oh and always ask for local taxis at the hotel if going out (they will be cream with colured roof) as they will try and put you in a 'hotel' taxi and u will be charged anout 4 times as much!!! taxis are cheap as chips and plentiful !

Pick your 'brunch' carefully though - aren't they often filled with half pissed expats?

We loved the Atlantis and hardly went out for the four days we were there. It is big, busy and brash, but great for a few days. Worth going for the Club package.

The aquarium is fantastic - and we're not really into fish! There is one lovely restaurant that incorporates the aquarium, which is great for a special meal.

Have fun!
