car seats in singapore??

Does anyone know what the law is about car seats for babies in Singapore? We are stopping for 2 days en route to Australia, and just need to get from airport to hotel and back again. We've hired a car with baby seats in Australia, so don't want to cart our car seats on the plane just for the Singapore part. Thank you

Most people in Singapore will just take their baby on their lap in the taxi. It is a legal requirement to have a car seat fitted in your own car, but many Singaporeans (and expats) use taxis and just hold their babies.

Obviously it is less safe, but I did it quite often, until I got a car, and had friends who did it too. How old is your baby?

Baby will be 4 months. There are only two journeys - from airport to hotel (Merchant Court) and back again.
Thank you for the response.
