Does it have to be sea or would a beach by a lake be OK? (Lake Garda for example.)

LexieH · 28/01/2014 17:06

lake garda is good if you think that is better than by the Adriatic coast? Would still be interested to know your thoughts....as Lake G was on our list....

I love Lake Garda but last year we went to Lidoo de Camaiore for a change, which is on the Tuscany coast. Cheap flights to Pisa and less than an hour in a hire car.

TheresLotsOfFarmyardAnimals · 28/01/2014 17:16

Viareggio and north of there. You fly to Pisa.

MrsCharlesBrandon · 28/01/2014 17:19

Ancona is lovely.

WildThong · 28/01/2014 17:21

Lido not Lidoo

Google Ca Savio and Cavallino. Fab beaches, loads of campsites/villa complexes to choose from. Many have direct beach access. We love it here Grin

I've camped at Ca'Savio, lovely beach and you can do a day trip to Venice really easily from there.

LexieH · 28/01/2014 23:25

Thanks everyone have checked out Ca'Savio! Looks great :) JeanSeberg where would you recommend in Lake Garda? WildThong where did you stay in Lido? :)

Sardinia & Sicily also great for beaches - we particularly loved Sicily (this was pre children) but there was a great beach near calgari, south Sardinia

Second Lake Garda. The town of Garda or anywhere on East side of lake best. Avoid West as too hilly if have a pushchair. Loads of families (although mostly German and Dutch - we never met another Brit!)

Le Cinque terre - plenty of small towns.

Any of the Italian lakes - they all have lidos

Hi LexieH, we stayed here - booked directly with the campsite and it was much cheaper.

WildThong · 29/01/2014 18:15

lexie we stayed at the Dune Hotel in Lido - don't go there! It was advertised as 4 star and although clean with a beautiful pool area the rooms were a throwback to 1970. Loved the resort, not that hotel though.
