My friend was getting ready to go on holiday with her hubbie, son and her hubbie's sister and family.she said that her hubbie's sister didn't have a passport but that she'd contacted the spanish consulate and they didn't seem to bothered! i was quite surprised-obviously, i hope she did get away and is having a lovely holiday. But,I must admit I was a little surprised knowing how strict airports are these days-ok, I know the Spanish passport people hardly even look at us but what about when she returns to the UK? They've certainly gotten very strict on this side of the world, haven't they?!

I'd say she would need to have one. My grandad needs one (or a driving licence!) as ID for when he makes an internal flight.

I would be highly surprised if she was able to leave the Uk without a passport. If she did somehow slip through the net, I would be astounded if she could get into Spain.

SminkoPinko · 31/07/2006 18:50

She'll definitely need a passport of some sort.

LIZS · 31/07/2006 18:53

I'd say she'd need one. Think airlines get penalised for carrying someone without one who is then refused entry and may well refuse her at Check In.

fairydust · 31/07/2006 19:05

when we went to majorca - two people we're refused at the checking desk as there passports had expired so i'd doudt that she's be able to travel with out one.

NomDePlume · 31/07/2006 19:06

(No, we haven't got ID cards here yet)

Blandmum · 31/07/2006 19:08

she will not be able to leave the UK without a passport

Blondilocks · 31/07/2006 19:08

I thought that you couldn't check in without a passport even for internal flights.

NomDePlume · 31/07/2006 19:10

You can travel on a valid photocard driving licence on domestic flights. DH does it all the time.

mummymel1 · 31/07/2006 19:10

cutekids · 31/07/2006 21:46
