It is really down to San Francisco and it is a long way down as it is Canada and then most of West Coast America. No, I have not done this but it would be a consideration if the train allowed you to see the best bits of Canada, Oregon, Washington, Portland, California etc. I would do less and do it by car. I guess it would be ok if you like trains. Seattle to San Francisco maybe?
