First time abroad with kids - recommendations for October

We are wanting to go to the sunshine in October for the first time with our boys aged 7 & 2 and are wondering if anyone has had a successful holiday at that time of year. The travel agents are recommending Canaries or Turkey but would like to hear of anyones personal recommendations for a short haul holiday. Our budget is around £2,000 for a week A/I
Thankyou

Hi - we have been to Tenerife in the October break for 4 years running, this will be our 5th year. I'd totally recommend it.

Temperature is perfect at that time of year mid to high twenties generally and still very pleasant in the evening, but not stiffling hot.

We stay in the south around the Costa Adeje area, lovely beach at Del Duque area. We book flights and accomodation separately, our friends have gone First Choice and have gone twice to the same place.

It depends on when in October you are goin. Are you thinking of half term?

Turkey can be beautiful in October, I have been there when it has been glorious sunshine throughout but the weather can be a bit hit and miss at the end of the month. The Antalya coast is always slightly warmer so you may have a better chance of good weather that side rather than the Aegean Region.

Lanzarote - Playa Blanca. Took our DS as a 6 month old and again just before he was 2. At that time you should be able to get a villa with a pool or hotel within your budget and the weather should be perfect.

Not going in half term, going to take him out of school so will be cheaper. Looking at around 14th

Mid October is nice in Turkey, it just starts cooling down at the end of the month.

My friend went to October for the half term and said the weather was pleasant during the day, very cold in the evening but the main problem were the absolutely freezing pools.
I have been to Cyprus in october and had lovely weather.

Yes, once it gets cold at night the pools become freezing. Mid October isn't so cold at night though so the pools remain warm and the sea is very warm.

We went to menorca last October with our then one year old. Stayed at the insotel Punta prima AI. It's with First Choice. Recommend 100%! Already recommended to another MNer who has booked for this summer! Smile
