It's my birthday in march, I have secured a babysitter for 1 night (2 days)

I'd like to go somewhere that I've never been before, I'd like to go on a plane or train/ferry.

Since it's only for 1 night it needs to be up to 2 hrs travel from airport/station/port.

It's just me and DP, I'd like it be somewhere not posh or classy but cute, romantic and picturesque. I don't want 5 star dining and acoomidation, I'd prefer something small and intimate, rustic even.

Price isn't an issue at this point.

Can anyone suggest somewhere beautiful for us to spend the night?

We stayed here in Somerset for a few days last year. One day it rained very hard and all the roads were flooded and we were TRAPPED all day - in front of the fire on a comfy sofa with Wifi and the newspapers. And people bringing food and wine. Terrible it was Grin Rooms are lovely and the food was really good.

Have a look at which destinations in a 1-2 hour flight radius are available from your local airport and take it from there.

The destinations that I would consider from where I am are Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany.

Alternatively, could the Eurostar take you anywhere?

Tbh, with just 2 days to spend, I would look at the nicest possible place closest to home so as to not to waste that much time on travelling.

I'm about an hour away from Gatwick, I'll take a look into where is close. I'd like somewhere with a breathtaking view.p, a hot tub would be lovely, I've not ruled out the UK, it's hard to explain but after a tough 2 years and a missed birthday last year, I'd love to do something special that is all about me! This place was stunning. View over Lake Como is to die for. One night is not enough though.

I have secured an extra night! So it will be from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. Smile

Hopefully that gives us more scope for something lovely.
