Menorca/ Majorca or south of france ( languedoc rousillon )

Debating where to go this June , have 2 boys aged 4 and 2. We just want nice kid friendly beaches , ie shallow water etc. We hate anywhere too touristy!!! Any advice welcome

Can only comment on Languedoc and say don't go to Argeles!

Actually we went out of season a few years ago and it was a good base but beach was a bit too well decorated with dog shit and I suspect teeming in the summer. Just down the coast towards Spain are lovely little towns (Coulioures, Banyuls) but the former is as big tourist attraction (because it IS loverly) and I can't remember the beach at the latter as it was raining heavily when we were there.

Absolutely lovely area, we had a 5 and 3 year old who were very content, but I prefer countryside and mountains to seaside so I can't recommend anything more helpful.

Menorca is so child friendly, and wonderful in June as there aren't so many tourists. Most of the beaches have very shallow wáter. I really recommend hiring a car. The roads are fantastic,quiet, and everything is so well signposted. You can explore so many of the quaint little towns and the virgin beaches in a week.

I love Menorca, so am probably quite biased, but it is very family friendly and, if you avoid the resorts north of Ciutadella, quite authentic too.

Great beaches that are safe for children can be found at Son Bou, Es Grau, Santo Tomas, Cala Galdana and Arenal d'en Castell. Other popular resorts are Cala'n Porter and Cala'n Bosch (these two are more popular with British visitors).

Ah thanks girls . Am thinking the beaches in Menorca look much prettier ! Fraggleland, are there any particular beaches you would recommend , also best company for villa rental ?? Questions , questions !

We went to Menorca in June and stayed in a villa, it was superb. Both dc were 4 and 2. We hired a car so we could explore and the beach at Cala Galdana was a firm fave with all of us. This year we are heading for a villa in the South of France. We stayed with Villas Direct in Menorca, very good! Have also used owners direct for other holidays as well.
