MURCIA have you been? Can you recommend a resort? Preferably not too far from the airport?

I've never been here but can get fairly cheap flights in July so am thinking of going with dp and dss.

If anyone can recommend a resort it'd really help. Not into golf. Near the beach if possible?

If you know of a sc apartment even better. TIA.

La manga club....20 mins from airport....although it has golf you don't need to play - lots of other stuff going on. Try the Belaluz area for sc apartments. Thanks

Thanks very much Skiingmaniac.

We stayed at one of the Golf resorts -El Valle and La Torre both have fab modern large villas and apartments very reasonable. You definitely need car hire in one of the resorts to get about though.
It was about 30 mins from Murcia Airport. 10/15 mins from a beach at Los Alcazares.

Murcia and Cartagena both worth a visit. La Manga itself was pretty awful -looked extremely touristy-although I think La Manga resort is nice?

Thanks magentastardust.

Anyone been to San Pedro del Pinatar?

I think we went to the beach there a couple of times? There weren't many British holiday makers there that we noticed mainly Spanish. We just had a drink in a café and went to the beach for a bit so didn't really get the vibe of the place.

We liked both Murcia and Cartagena for evening strolls, drinks and meals.
Los Alcazares also had quite a lot of bars and restaurants and a long stretch of beach.

Thanks magenta. Spanish sounds good as dp is pretty good with the language and dss are fair. I'm ok but want to improve.

Hi - I know this area fairly well and we flew to murcia for the October half term.
We stayed in a small town called Dolores which was v Spanish and rustic. We were only 15 mins form guardamar del segura which is a lovely small resort. We also drove to la marina beach which is stunning. A few restaurants and beach huts and long white sandy beach. The urbanisation is close which was useful for a Sunday supermarket and English speaking doc.
Los alcazares is lovely which a huge promenade and again feels Spanish.
Cartegena is a hidden gem and alicante / murcia old towns well worth a visit.
Avoid la manga like the plague, it's over priced, spoilt and the beach was dirty on our visit.

We stayed at Mazarron Country Club last year - good range of villas but not much there, didn't bother us as our villa had a pool and we had some days out in the car. Very Spanish area, Puerto de Mazarron (about 15 mins drive) was a lovely resort with a good prom and marina to stroll along.

We are going to Los Alcazares this summer, and have booked a villa with it's own pool. It is very hot in July / August so make sure you have air conditioning.

I use these sites to search for accommodation

We stayed at La Manga Resort a few years ago. The accomodation was lovely, but eating out within the resort is eye wateringly expensive and you could only use the pool attached to your set of houses, it was a bit of a drive to the beach I seem to remember.

Thanks rookiemater.
