Parking at the O2, London

Am driving up on Friday 31st January. If weather is nice will probably park, go into London for a few hours and then return for evening concert. Has anyone used the carparks there and able to recommend one that doesn't cost the earth! Do you have to pre-book or can you just turn up and park?

Its certainly not cheap to park at the 02 and frankly I would not bother doing so.

"Arena/Event Parking
Car parking is available for every event at The O2. It's a good idea to pre book to guarantee a space.

For any parking query, call us on 020 8463 6718 (10am - 6pm).

The O2 arena
Pre booked parking is £17.50 plus a £3.50 service charge. You can book tickets up until 5pm on the day of an evening event, or up to two hours before a matinee.

If you haven't booked parking in advance, don't panic. You may still be able to nab a space in car park 1 for £30.00" (!).

Also on a Friday during peak hours you would also need to pay the congestion charge.

You'd be far better off instead using the Jubilee Line service and get off the train at the station nearest the O2; the tube station is about a 3-4 minute walk from the venue.

The NCP car park that belongs to the tube station is a lot cheaper to park at (I think it's £8 a day on the weekends, much better than what the O2 charges, which is £25/£30!) and it's right next to the O2 'official' car parks but everyone seems to have cottoned on to that fact and it's very full on concert/gig days. Good luck if you decide to chance it. If you are going early on the day, you could probably turn up at the NCP car park and just wait till you get a lot if it's full.

I meant the North Greenwich Jubilee tube station!
