Dear friends, just wanted your ideas on our long-awaited Disney trip. We're going with my daughter (12) and niece (also 12) at Easter this year. We are arriving at Miami for two nights then at Vero Beach on the East Coast then Disney then a couple of nights over on the Gulf Coast. Does anyone have any ideas for hotels on the Gulf Coast, Clearwater, St Pete's, etc and also places to visit at or near Miami Beach and Vero Beach? Loving all the tips so far!

From Miami beach you could drive down the Keys to Key Largo ( an hour or so), or you could drive into the Everglades. " nights in Miami doesn't give you much time, the beach is great and there is a long boardwalk alongside it you can walk up. The girls will probably enjoy walking along Ocean Drive, sitting in the News Café and doing some people watching. Check out the dog with a bucket who walks up there - people throw dollar bills on the floor, the dog puts his bucket down, picks up the money and puts it in his bucket - he must make a fortune!

Gulf Coast is lovely, we stayed in the Holiday Inn at Indian Rocks beach, about 20 mins from Clearwater. Days out from there include Sarasota, Siesta Key (you can dive for sand dollars here), Tarpon Springs (a Greek fishing village). You could easily visit Busch Gardens from here too. A great breakfast place is the Seahorse Cafe at Passe-A-Grille beach.

Have a great time!

Many thanks for this. Have had a look at the Holiday Inn which looks just about right for us.
