In a few weeks, we're doing a 27h flight from Heathrow to New Zealand via Hong Kong, with a 28mo LO. Very much looking forward to the trip of a lifetime, but the prospect of the flights do scare me rather. I'd love any advice from anyone who's done a flight that long, or any long haul with toddlers, etc. In particular:
- Planning to take headphones for LO to watch videos, play games, etc. The reviews on these - www.amazon.co.uk/JVC-HAKD5P-Phones-Stereo-Headphones-Pink/dp/B005OQ5ZM8/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top - seem good, but the specs say they're for 4+. Has anyone used these or any others that they'd recommend (that have a volume limiter) on a 2yo?
- We're flying Cathay pacific economy. Does anyone know if we can expect to have access to a plug socket? To charge the child entertaining device :-) Also, any android app recommendations gratefully received (she already has her favourites, but the more the merrier)
- Any suggestions on what to do while we're in Hong Kong? Only a few hours, we won't be killing time in the airport for too long, but just in case anybody can think of anything we mustn't forget to do (other than let our tiny one run as much as possible!)
- How have other passengers reacted to toddlers on long haul flights you've been on? I'm wondering whether to buy a job lot of ear plugs to hand out to people!
- We'll be taking plenty of our own food, obviously, but how did your kids cope with plane food?
- Anything else that we might have overlooked that we need to prepare for?
Thanks for any advice!
