New York in July

I'm trying to persuade DH to go to NYC for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. We've been before but not for ages (before kids and on a budget) and I REALLY want to go again. He says it'll be too hot then. Anyone know whether it's hideous.? Also, we could be there for July 4th. Is Independence Day a good time to be there or best to avoid? Any thoughts most welcome Grinthanks.

Hi there,

DH and I went to New York for a week in July in 2007. It was hot but now too bad and you were constantly in and out of air conditioned areas so it was fine.
We were there for 4th July and watched the fireworks down by the river. Was a fantastic experience, though very busy!
Go for it!

We have been in August and it was a bit hot and humid but not too bad. Staten Island ferry etc was good as there was a breeze. Would say July is similar but not horrible. NY City is fabulous in the summer but USA has long school summer holidays and many American families travel in July and NY is a favourite destination. I would also look at Boston and maybe a bit of time on Cape Cod.
