Hotel to overnight in between Calais and Bergerac - near Alecon, Le Mans or Rouen - any recommendations?

Hello, me again! So thanks to the help of lovely people on this board we are going to stop in the Loire on the way down to our holiday place in Bergerac - the plan for coming back is to drive half way back to Calais on the Saturday and overnight in a hotel not far from the road we need to take back to Paris. The places above seem about half way (4 ways drive). Any recommendations on hotels or chains to try? We'll have our 3 ds with us, 8, 5 and 1 year old (so will need to hire a cot for the 1 year old from the hotel) so I suspect we may need interconnecting rooms or a family suite of some sort.

We stayed in a lovely b&b near Le Mans, www.lalunelake.co.uk. Worth checking if they have a room for 5. They served a wonderful evening meal and breakfast. Had a small splash pool and loads of grounds to run around in! Great for kids after long car journey.

We stayed at novotel in Le Mans last summer, they do family rooms for 4 but might add a cot too. Functional rather than beautiful though!

Hi we always use Ibis hotels on our way through France. You have to book in advance for the family rooms though. Always found them clean, safe and perfect for a one night stopover.

We stayed in a B&B hotel overnight in Rouen last summer - booked a 4 bed room for the 5 of us. (Took an air bed for one if the dcs) Basic but perfectly comfortable - the single beds were on a mezzanine so it worked really well.

We stopped over in Rouen on one trip. I chose the Etap on the outskirts of town.

We were two adults, and three boys - aged umm... 9, 11 and 12 at the time. So had two rooms. One adult in each.

It was the first time we had done this, long road trip with stopovers. I wanted to be sure of a secure car park, and easy access.

I think Etap is now called Ibis Budget. e

I like them as they are very reasonable - especially if you book in advance. Breakfast is nothing special, but cheap - and fills up the DC.

Have more recently used a Campanile (in Bayeaux), and that was good. May have been a little more expensive, but I liked it.

How about Blois?

We stayed here hotel de France et de guise

Very friendly place, a little tired around the edges but charming. don't know how suitable it would be for your DC.

There is a big car park just a couple of minutes walk away - quite cheap for overnight.
