Not asking for much but... Any ideas?

Looking for inspiration for a summer holiday (2 x adults and 1 x 5yr old) and could really do with some help. Here is my wish list...

  • Hot in August (preferably Europe)
  • 2 bed apartment or connecting rooms in a hotel (villa would be good but would prefer somewhere that DS might have some company)
  • Communal pool so that DS has an opportunity to meet other children
  • B&B preferable although don't mind self catering
  • Bars and nice restaurants within walking distance so that we can go out in the evenings
  • Fairly quiet resort, we like 'traditional' places rather than big holiday resorts
  • Close to a beach would be nice but not essential
  • A few interesting places close by for day trips - we usually hire a car

We love Spain and the Canaries but would quite like to try somewhere different - France, Italy, Turkey would all be good options.

Am I looking for moon on a stick? Accommodation is the biggest problem as most companies seem to think that three people can share a room (they obviously haven't heard DH's snoring Grin).

All suggestions gratefully received!

Very nice and meets all your criteria but might be too expensive (went there for my honeymoon so splashing out on special holiday).

It was hot but quite windy so comfortable for pottering about as well as beach-lounging. So many sights (and sites) to visit.
