dh and I are planning a weekend away in September without the kids. we don't want to fly so thought Lille or Bruges on Eurostar as it's only a couple of hours. can't decide which to go for.
Has anyone been and give some advice?

My DD had a school trip (to Battlefields) & they had a day in Bruges. She said (& photos proved) that it is beautiful, with loads to see. My parents have just booked a trip there as well as lots of recommendations from others received.

Bruges is lovely, quite Venice-like in a non-Italian way, but I have never been to Lille (apart from the airport) so can't compare them I'm afraid.

Bruges is really pretty and and has the added extra of Belgian chocolate.

I can't compare them either but Lille is a very lovely city, there is the Citadel to walk round and a fine arts museum and lots more besides.

Haven't been to bruges as an adult but we loved lille. My parents went this year on our recommendation and also loved it. Has the benefit over bruges of being nearer (I think for bruges you have to change in Brussels but could be wrong)..
