West Ireland in Summer.

I have always wanted to go to Ireland on a holiday and apart from work trips to Dublin and Belfast, have never managed it. I have enough clubcard points now to convert to a summer holiday ferry.

So for those of you that have - any recommendations? We are a family of 5 with DC's aged 13, 7 and 5. We dont want anything too busy as DS2 has ASD so doesnt like crowds or anything too much. So just nice scenery, nice beaches and somewhere thats great for walking/cycling would be good.

Donegal has lovely beaches, with some quieter spots and great walks. Quite hilly most places so cycling could be hard work.

The Aran Islands and Galway are beautiful. Lots of self catering houses. My favourite place in the world

Have a look at west Cork. Some parts like Kinsale are quite touristy but it is quieter further west. Great beaches and quite a lot to do. Also near airport/ferry. Courtmacsherry, Timoleague are quite pretty with nice beaches. Also within driving distance of Kerry etc which has a lot of mountain scenery.

Galway is lovely, only went once years ago but would like to go back.

ExP (who was Irish) used to tell me about a place called Ballybunion, which is apparently really nice but not actually been myself
