V excited - have just booked a child-free break in NYC for our 10th anniversary in October. We're staying at The Franklin Hotel. Has anyone stayed there? (trip advisor said great location tiny rooms but that's ok) Any do-not-miss recommendations? I've been once before but that was with 4 yr old DTDs.

TIA Grin

We only had 2 nights as we were flying onto California but we packed in loads! Would recommend going up The Top of the Rock rather than The Empire State Building as you get a glorious view and can see the ESB to! Also the Staten Island Ferry for good view of the Statue of Liberty, you just sail by it and sail back again but its free!!

Ellis Island where all the immigrants landed first. Spot the famous names on the memorial wall. Central Park, 5th Avenue, MoMa, The High Line and look at the Chrysler Building (the most beautiful in New York), Grand Central Station and the Flatiron Building. Definitely do the Staten Island Ferry. Meatpacking District is good as is SoHo. Budget lots for food. Eating out costs a lot as does constant tipping. Great destination though!
