Closest resorts to Disney (Florida)

Hi thinking ahead, we are hoping to do a big family trip to Florida in 2015. We haven`t been since 2006 and I hear its a lot more expensive. We have previously stayed off the 192 in Rolling Hills (Formosa Gdns) and off the 27. Which resorts are the closest to Disney, no more than 10 min drive? Also would like to back onto a lake, we would need a 6/7 bedroom villa. I read somewhere here is now short cut to the parks? Thank you. xx

We stayed at sunset lakes and it was really near, not so pricey and we had a great 4 bedroom villa with pool. there seems to be a lot more choice now but we thought some of the estates were looking a bit tired especially those that were built in the peak. worth checking out the DIBB website. pm me if you want details of where we stayed.

Orange lake is lovely, and is adjacent to the animal kingdom lodge, so very close!

Orange Lake

We are staying at Orange lake in May and can't wait! it is really close to Disney. primrose123 when did you go, how was it? The reviews are a bit mixed but only because of the time share angle I hope.. Grin

Goodgrief we went quite a while ago! Once in 2003 and once in 2005. We are considering going back next year though. The location is great. You turn off onto the 192, turn off onto Sherbeth Road and you are on disney property in minutes.

It was very nice, the only thing we didn't like was that we were so far from the pool that we had to drive there! I think there is a new east village now though that has apartments and pools together so that may not be a problem.

We stayed near Sherbeth Road in May, there is a short cut to Animal Kingdom which is only about 5 mins away. Have also stayed at Indian Ridge Creek, just off the 192, which is only a 10 minute drive onto Disney property.

we stated at West Haven near champions gate and it was excellent - plenty near enough for us (though we don't come back during the day). 10 mins to Disney, 20 odd to Seaworld, half an hour to universal.
