Hello

any advice or tips will be much appreciated. Very nervous about 2 hour train journey with 15 month old. We haven't booked tickets yet, trying to decide if it's better to travel on Monday 23 Dec or early on xmas eve? Which would be better in regards to how packed the train will be?

Also I will be bringing plenty of treats and snacks and toys but I'm still thinking it'll be a nightmare!

Help!

not booked yet? Get weaving. Look on the trainline or similar and pick the cheapest fares, that shows a less busy train.

why should it be a nightmare? Only a couple of hours and you can always find toddling space in the corridors.

Well we had booked it for the 27th Dec but there has been a death in the family which means we have to go up sooner. I just want it to go smoothly with as little hassle as possible as it's been such a stressful few days. Mostly wanted to know if anyone knew whether it'd be better to travel the day before Xmas eve, or on xmas eve.

Get a family railcard and it is them cheaper (discount adult + child together is cheaper than full price adult).

This then allows you to book 2 seats as well

Yes to family railcard & yes to booking, you want reserved seats in case it is busy!

I would travel at whatever time suits you, if it were me (I do Manchester - London regularly) I would go for an 11am train, so can occupy some time having lunch!

I would guess that 23rd is better btw, although apparently the busiest day will be today.
