Go for honey cake in the cafe in the observation tower. Get the little train up. :)

Cheapo coffee and snacks available in Bohemian Bagel - there are several. Really good apple pie iirc.

How was it? Any recommendations? We're planning to go in October for my birthday. Never been on weekend break before and very excited.

Cooroo
We stayed at Archibald next to the Charles Bridge Hotel.
The Christmas market in the Old Town Square was lovely, but you will probably be too early for this.
There was another market on a street near Wenceslas Square which DH thought was probably a regular market (glass nail files that cost several ££ in UK for £1).
We did a 'free' walking tour which leaves from Old Town Square. It's not really free as you give the guide what you think the tour is worth. You can give as much or as little as you like. The tour was excellent.
We also did a train trip to Terezin, but did payfor this in advance(£28). Very moving and very interesting, again with an excellent guide.
On our first day we shared a lunch bought from a market stall that they cooked in large pans, think it was potatoes & bacon with a couple f mulled wines. It was very, very cheap, maybe about £5.
For a gass of wine and a beer in one of the bars in the Old Town Sq was only about £5.
We walked up to the castle and had a look around by ourselves and had some nice cake & tea and there were some nice restaurants too.
I cannot recommend our hotel more highly.
We booked taxis to & from the airport direct to hotel and I think it was about £30 return with no hitches whatsoever.
Enjoy it.
