From memory, althoug I 've never done it, pretty tricky.
Where do you have to go? Can you take the overground round the corner?

Cappucino · 12/07/2006 16:21

the underground altogether is impossible

Kentish Town Tube has escalators as far as I remember

but it's still a tube station so by definition it's not going to be easy

I'm coming from Clapham Common (pretty impossible itself but there always seems to be someone to help) so tube seems simplest - straight up on the northern line. I could get the bus to Herne Hill and get overground from there - would that be easier do you think?

The tube station has escalators and also steps up from the platform to the escalators. The overground has a lot of steps up from the platform, so not any easier, really.

how old is child? can you carry pushchair up a few (say 10) steps?

franch · 12/07/2006 19:32

Baby is 10 months but buggy is heavy - however there does usually seem to be someone to help. Will stick to tube I think if it's no more difficult than overground. Hey ho, hot and sticky rush hour, what fun.

Kentish Town has a hellish number of steps. I was there a couple of weeks ago and the escalator was broken, had to walk down them all ( and I have a dodgy ankle) it was difficult and my legs hurt for a couple of days afterwards.

Don't they have a lift for buggies? They should have.

i always take the thameslink overground when i have a choice because although there are a lot of stairs you can bump the buggy up the stairs from the overground (if there is no-one there to help).

may just be beacuse i get very panicky taking a buggy on escalators (and my ds has always seemed to enjoy being bounced up stairs)
