We are thinking of having 2 nights away in Bath / Bristol area in august and need hotel recommendations. We have a daughter who will be nearly one and so need somewhere with family rooms and preferably a baby listening service so we can have a nice meal! Any suggestions ?

Hi Alli, I've just moved away from Bristol and would recommend the hotel du vin , I stayed there a while back, it's great. They have interconnecting rooms although I've never stayed there with a child and have no idea if they do baby listening. Their restaurant is very good so you wouldn't need to leave the hotel for a great dinner and they have fantastic squishy sofas and a soothing bar. You'll find Bristol cheaper at the weekends than Bath because it's a business district so Bristol hotel prices go down at the weekend, whereas Bath hotels stick their prices up at the weekends. It's not far from the HDV in Bristol to the docks/Christmas steps/the river either. I stayed at The Brigstow a while back and absolutely wouldn't recommend it, small rooms, rubbish service.

we have just had a great weekend away with dd (20 months) in bibury near burford (cotswolds). it wasn't cheap (£140 a night b and b) but we all shared a room, they had cots and the best thing was the hotel was opposite a trout farm! sounds weird but dd absolutely adored feeding the fish and seeing them jump. there was also a little play ground. no baby listening service however. hotel was called the swan, altho local farmhouses do deals for £20 per night (they were full last weekend). we wd definitely go again.

Babington house, if you can afford it. Spectacularly nice for everyone in the whole family. They have last minute specials.
