Anyone near Glasgow?

Hi, we live in Glasgow and we would like to take the kids somewhere for a few days in early August. Really would prefer not a drive of more than 2 hours, somewhere with lots for 2 energetic wee boys to run off steam! we were thinking of Arran, or Berwick. Our budget is very tight too!

Anyone know of any nice accomodation that fits this?

Cheers!

There is a youth hostel in Tobermory on Mull with family rooms if your boys like balamory!

nah, they are 5 and 8! they'd be insulted!

they are more into star wars!

Think Toothache stayed in a nice wee cottage on Arran.

Caravan in Berwick?

Sorry, never been to either place

ssd · 10/07/2006 13:38

caravan sounds good, trouble is we only want to stay 2-3 nights but can only get one for 7 nights

Accomodation on Arran here

Auchrannie Spa Resort is great if your budget would run to it. There are some self-catering cottages here ; I think they're the people Toothache used.

Bum, sorry, that link was houses for sale, and in fact schneebly has already obliged with the right one!

ssd · 11/07/2006 07:53

There is a good caravan site at southerness - good beaches and kids activities, there is also a good farm park near dumfries and it is a lovely town to wander around. There is a Mnetter who lives there - is it Twiga? Not sure. Will see if I can get you some links!
