Going to Edinburgh Zoo tomorrow with kids, any tips?

Where's the good places to eat, any good play areas for 2 boys 5 and 8 very lively!

Anyone know of discounts available?

My friends both work there! One is the head animal presenter, and the other is the head of the bird dept!

I get in free.

Don't know of any other way to get a discount though.

BEWARE though. My ds was 4 when I went last and he was more interested in the play parks than the animals!

Not sure about discounts - we're members so we get a lot of things discounted. Would recommend taking Hilltop Safari (free) to top amd walking down - zoo is on v. steep hill. Loads of play areas dotted around - my dd is younger so am not sure what would suit your boys. All activities are listed at the door as you go in and are all (I think) free. Loads of educational, hands on stuff for kids and the timings of the animal feeds. Have a great day

The Close Encounters is fab if they like touching animals!

And Animal Antics is what my friend presents. They have Owls and rats and parrots.

well we went and had a great day!

waited for the bus to take us to the top but it was very busy, so we ended up walking. Saw lots of great animals, both ds's really enjoyed it!

only downside was the drive home, both kids slept soundly on the M8 journey and arrived home at 7.30 refreshed after their sleep! they couldn't sleep till after 10.30pm and as dh was working late I had them to myself!!

so today is a lazy day, we are all knackered!
