American spring break - info needed

Am considering booking our hols for next easter in Mexico but on many of the holiday/hotel review websites it mentions avoiding american spring break. Does anyone have any experience of it, know when it is exactly or whether I shouldnt worry about it. Also is it just Mexico that is affected or is it the whole of the Carribean? Sorry if I am being thick but Ive honestly never heard of it before!

It varies from one place to another - generally mid-March to mid-April-ish. The US has fewer school holidays in the school year (with a longer summer break instead) so spring break is about the only time to take non-summer holidays.
