Need 2 full days out near Burton on Trent for October half term

10 of us, 4 boys aged 6-13, 6 adults including fit active GPs

I've been Googling and have almost decided on The National Trust Museum of Childhood and Sudbury Hall and Snibston Discovery Park.

Anyone been and got any comments/recommendations?

Any better suggestions?

Also need somewhere for a big birthday lunch on a weekday. Any great but reasonable places nearby?

Thank you

Snibston is fantastic

Thanks cmt, it looks it. Are there facilities to take and eat your own lunch?

Have you had a look at Conkers? Great day out, and quite close to Snibston too.

I second Conkers! Fab day out. As is Snibston.

There's also Rosliston (sp.?) - not sure if you'd manage a full day there though.

Ok, Conkers looks good, but similar to Snibston, not sure we'd want to do both on consecutive days, would we? Which one would you plump for?

What's Rosliston? We could do with something for a few hours on the last day.

I'd go for Conkers. But lots of it is outside so if it was a horrible day you might be better off at Snibston. Twycross Zoo is nearby too and always worth a visit.

Rosliston is a forestry centre - maybe too similar to Conkers actually.

Ashby de la Zouch castle?

RAF Cosford is great,

The website doesn't do it justice. It is a full day out with lots of hands on activity, huge aircraft hangars and a war museum part. There is a café and they allow picnics.

oh, and it is free Smile
