San Francisco - accommodation recommendations

Going to California next summer for 4 weeks. Starting off with about 4 nights in San Fransisco. Anyone any recommendations? 2 adults and 2 children, want good location where we can walk lots of the sights. Looking to spend no more than about 160 quid a night. Have found an amazing looking 2 bed apt just off Lombard Street and a few blocks back from Fishermans Wharf for 144 a night. Very tempted though we usually stay in hotels. Never done the states before so any help most welcome.

I am going to San Francisco on Monday. We have a 'deluxe studio'
Steinhart
I will let you know how it is next week.

I am a bit flummoxed at the moment as we had worked out that SF would be early Autumn, re weather and so had tunics/leggings/boots combo with waterproof and woollies at hand.
Now I find it is in mid 20s there and they are having an Indian Summer.
I am not complaining, obviouslySmile but I do like my clothes and want to take the right things.
Also, I do know there will be many shops but I don't need new clothes and for the last few years have not been buying things that I don't need, just things that will last.

I do know I am fortunate to have this to think about but I have a horrendous cold and cough and it all feels like a chore. (Miserable cow, moi?)SadWink
