I gave family in the Bristol/Bath area and drive not that bad! Where are you staying in Ayr? In town or outside? There are loads of great places you can enjoy free nearby! Culzean Castle near Ayr is a good day out - free for NT or NTS members but expensive if you're not though you can walk in free from the beach and so us farm park which is near it, but very close to Haven so it gets busy from 11ish onwards. The coast line is dab and yes, pm me or shout hearer the time! Enjoy the gymnastics, we applied fir loads of tickets but didn't get any :-(

Islenka · 02/01/2014 18:34

Reyjavik in summer (I live in Iceland, so not the same as going from the UK, driving there) and Oslo in May.

chicaguapa · 06/01/2014 16:51

Stratford upon Avon in Feb half term to do Tudors & Shakespeare
A week in the Vendee May half term in a gite
Then a couple of weeks' camping in France in the summer hols including a couple of days in Paris

Hopefully there'll be some sun and warmth in at least one of those holidays, if not both the French ones!

dinkystinky · 06/01/2014 18:15

Week in south of spain in April
week in the Loire then a week in the Lot in August
Just need to sort out what we're doing for October half term and see if we can slot in a long weekend away in December before Christmas

FuckyNell · 06/01/2014 18:17

Just booked 2 weeks at delphin diva Antalya in August. Woop!! Would you believe I also managed to reserve the last available kennel at the boarders? In January??

Just back from our first holiday of the year. Left last Sunday (so still 2013) but home yesterday (so Jan 2014) - week in Lanzarote getting some lovely winter sun.

We are going to Padstow, in Cornwall, for a week at February half term, along with friends and their DDs.

Easter - we plan a week in Europe. DH fancies driving round a few places (new car, hence why) - maybe France, Germany, etc. Not yet booked but will start to plan this month.

Summer - not yet decided but the three of us will go away somewhere, probably longhaul. Fancy California.

October half term - plan to go away with friends and their two DC. Will be some winter sun, but not sure where yet. Possibly a villa in the Canaries I think.

CaptainSweatPants · 06/01/2014 18:23

Wow Hulababy - a holiday every school holiday , I'm green with envy !

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/01/2014 18:25

Hoping to go for a city break at Easter, possibly Berlin.
February half term will be either London with friends, or possibly Yorkshire or Winchester without.
May will be London, if not done in Feb.
Summer - this is the one we're struggling with. Would love to do a family holiday but the teenage dds are reluctant to go to any of the places we can afford!

ginmakesitallok · 06/01/2014 18:28

Couple of nights in Milan in march (I'm sneaking along, dp is speaking at a conference), and about to book a fortnight in Crete in July.

Hulababy · 06/01/2014 21:13

CaptainSweatPants - well almost (not May half term) - but yes, this year we have a lot planned. DH loves his holidays - especially the winter sun opportunity. I suppose really the current one we have is really 2013's holiday though - we normally go away at October half term but last year DH couldn't get the time off, hence going away in Dec/Jan.

Butlins Bognor Regis in the Wave Apartment.

Two grand for a week! Shock

Never been to Butlins before, but am afraid to fly, so that combined with the Butlins facilities which seem absolutely ideal for two children age 5 and 7 by then, plus lots of undercover stuff in case of rain, make it seem ideal.

I've been to similarly priced Center Parcs (Longleat) before as a couple but can't figure the attraction of it with children, as all activities were extra and there's only so much swimming and walking/cycling in the woods you can do over 7 days. I know thes the zoo next door and a few tourist sites nearby, but as a Wiltshire girl it would be a it of a busman's holiday for me.

Staycations in the UK have surprised me cost wise. I also looked into Bedruthan Steps hotel in Cornwall, but again, had to retrieve jaw from floor at cost.

It's our first ever family holiday, so I am assuming I've booked safely, as the worst possible scenario is bad weather, in which case, there's plenty of indoor activities, plus the children have their own DVDs combo tele in their bedroom and a run of an apartment rather than just

Taffeta · 08/01/2014 12:45

Just booked Liguria for July.

Pondering a 2 nighter at Easter or May half term somewhere in UK.

starfishmummy · 08/01/2014 12:49

Difficult one here as there is significant storm damage in the area where we go on holiday. I am fairly sure that there will be lots of work going on to get things ready for the season but....

TitsalinaBumSquash · 08/01/2014 12:52

We're going on a Featherdown Farm holiday in Devon in May Smile I'm very excited, possibly more so that the kids! Grin

DottyDot · 08/01/2014 12:58

of course! We're staying in a treehouse for 2 nights in April! It's here. Ridiculously expensive, hence only 2 nights, but we're fairly local and I ds's really wanted to go, so we are Grin

We're off to Tenby at the end of May with dp's parents and brother's family - so 10 of us in total. Staying here.

Then off to the Commonwealth Games in July/August - 4 days and camping in a commonwealth games campsite which should be good..!

That's it so far for booked stuff. Would love a week abroad in the October half term but am waiting to see how the money goes... Grin
