Days out in Dorset

I want to venture a bit further along the South Coast this weekend (I live in Hampshire).

Cam anyone recommend things to do/visit in Dorset and in and around Weymouth. Is the sea life centre any good?

...and if anyone knows of any good beaches with things like rock pools, a small chance of finding crabs etc I would love the know where they are.

Thanks.

Kimmeridge bay for rock pools apparently, I haven't been there. Studland is close to it and gorgeous, especially this time of year.Or closer to you is Mudeford Quay, great for crab fishing over the edge, then you can catch a boat over to Hengistbury Head.

Bit far from you maybe, but Lyme Regis has beaches with rock pools, should be able to find a crab, but definitely prawns and things. If you do get that far the best beach to head for is the one at the opposite end to the Cobb, where the fossils are. At low tide there are loads of rock pools. Have fun!

Bournemouth has a nice aquarium right next to the pier, there is also a Wacky Warehouse if the weather looks dodgy. You can jump on the land train from outside the aquarium and this takes you along the coast to Alum Chine, where there is a nice restaurant and a good playground. Then head for Poole along the beach.
