Oh thank goodness you posted Dog I just need to read people talking about disney again, it's been too long!!!!!

What are your first bookings going to be? Useful to have ideas on what I should look for!! Will you be getting up early to book?

BloodyDogHairs · 06/05/2015 12:54

I defo will not be up early to book Grin

1st park on the list is HS so aiming for Tower of terror, Rocking roller coaster and Toy Story.

We have the PIL tagging along so my plan is anything they want to ride Soaring, Test track etc at Epcot I will get them a FP and me and DH will wait with our 1 & 3yr old and do child swap so freeing up our fp for something else.

There's just too much choice at MK tho so I need to sit down at work out what works best. I'm still undecided whether to book FP for the parades....I've planned on visiting MK 2 days in a row, 1 day getting early for rope drop and leaving after the 3pm parade then the next day arriving at lunch and stay until closing.

AK definitely trying for the Safari and the rapids for my older 2 DC's. I've only planned 1 day for AK with a table booked at Rain forrest cafe.

Oh and of course I have the BBQ to look forward too on your recommendation Grin

Yay, more posts! :) Dog I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting those FPs at all. I got all those the day before last time. I'm so excited for you, can't believe how quickly it's coming round! There is a list somwewhere of what FPs are most important - have a Google. At MK, Mine Train, Anna & Elsa and parades/fireworks are the ones that go quickest. I know you're a Disney veteran so you prob know this already but don't just get FPs for your favourite rides as some won't need it. eg. Pirates is our favourite ride but the queue always moves quickly so we don't bother with an FP for that and would save it for something like Peter Pan's Flight where the queue is always loooooooong, even though we don't like that ride as much as others. I'm also not sure whether to book for parades - I never have done and we always find a good spot quite easily but if it means no queuing in advance then it may be worth it. I wonder if you can still get to the front though - I'd rather sit with an ice-cream for half an hour and know I'm at the front than get an FP but be behind someone else. I'm tempted for Wishes though as that's very hard to fidn a good spot for.

BoG - nope, no luck :( I've got 2 of us in as singles but I'm hoping to fit the rest in nearer the time. I keep looking and there is usually availability for the following day so I'll try that.

We're not fans of AK but there are just 3 or 4 rides that we want to do, so we are going there on our first afternoon and just having a half day. LOVE Kali River Rapids! DD (11yo) was a big baby on it and wore goggles last time Grin

BloodyDogHairs · 06/05/2015 13:58

I know, I feel like it could be a waste of a fp but all too often I've sat, then at the last minute a parent tries to push their DC in front Angry. From what I've read there will be plenty of space for everyone to get a decent spot with lots of character interaction.

I'm sure a table will come up soon, could you phone the UK disney line? on fb groups I've been reading that that's a better way to book rather than thru MDE.

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 06/05/2015 14:19

My tip for parades is to put a blanket down and sit on the kerb - people don't like to tread on a blanket. Also if you're sitting on the kerb people don't tend to try and get in front, unlike if you're standing when they think oh, my kid could just squeeze in front there. We also park our buggy by the kerb and people don't stand in front of that. You can be our guinea pig and see what the view is like if you do get an FP :)

I have phoned the UK disney line but they couldn't find anything either. I'm fairly confident at being able to get in the day before though, fingers crossed!

I'm working on our MNSSHP costumes at the moment. I forget, is anyone else here going? Chesty, was it you?

BloodyDogHairs · 06/05/2015 14:22

haha yeah its my turn to take one for the team Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 06/05/2015 19:22

Oh dear, we're a leave it until 5 minutes before the parade starts and then DD slips to the front. Blush

There is no way on Earth I would ever sit or stand and wait for the parade, it is wasted time.

Fortunately since they have introduced the enormous fire-breathing dragon at the start DD has no interest in watching it any more, so hopefully next time we won't have to even bother with a 5 minute wait.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 06/05/2015 19:23

The first sentence was meant to end in the word "family".

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 07/05/2015 10:03

There is no way on Earth I would ever sit or stand and wait for the parade, it is wasted time.

There's no way I'd push my child in front of someone who had been queuing for an hour though. You either queue to see it with everyone else or you accept that you won't have a good view, in my book. S'only fair, innit.

StrawberryTallCake · 07/05/2015 11:32

So what happens if you do get FP for the parade? Is there a specific place you're allowed to stand?

It'll be my first time using the pre-book fast pass system and we barely used it unless a ride had a huge queue last time. Seems like a crazy system but interested to see how it works.

Love your itinerary Dog Will post mine too!

BloodyDogHairs · 07/05/2015 11:46

At the front of the castle there is a sectioned off spot for FP, 3 days to go and I'm booking a fp for the 3pm parade Grin

Yes I love reading other peoples planners!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 07/05/2015 18:42

Lucas - we don't stand in front of anyone. DD goes to the front. She's a small child. She stands next to someone. I do not push and nor does she. As regular visitors we also know where to go - there are many areas which are open until the last minute and then closed off for the parade to pass. Those are excellent for nipping to at the last minute.

Honestly, if people weren't daft enough to camp out at the side of the street an hour before then everyone could just turn up when it starts. I also have a 20 minute rule on queuing at Disney. There is never a need to queue longer than that for any ride if you use fast passes and go at the right time. I prefer to do stuff rather than queue (or hang around waiting).

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 07/05/2015 19:29

You said "DD slips to the front" - surely that implies she is moving forward past someone else? Confused I know what you mean about standing to the side of someone but you know as well as I do that what that really means is forcing someone to budge up! Each to their own but I wouldn't do it.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 07/05/2015 19:37

Slips to the front means she stands at the front next to someone. Hmm

It is not "forcing past". As for "forcing someone to budge up" I despair, I really do. It is a 15 minute parade of people in costumes held outside at the side of a pretend road. I am not expecting DD to sit on someone's knee at the Royal Opera House.

I hope you don't get funny with small children at Disney. When DD was very young an adult got cross with her for bumping into them and within seconds cast members were there asking if we wanted the person removed from the park.

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 07/05/2015 19:48

It is not "forcing past". As for "forcing someone to budge up" I despair, I really do.

I don't mean just asking someone to move up a little, I mean pushing against someone so that they then don't have enough room - it happens all the time. We get there in time to sit comfortably but then someone thinks they can come along at the last minute and shove their child in next to us, so we have to squeeze up and suddenly we only have room to sit sideways.

I hope you don't get funny with small children at Disney.

No but I do get funny with adults who feel that their child deserves special treatment over mine.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 07/05/2015 19:54

I really don't think Disney is the right holiday for you. You seem to take it far too seriously.

I don't think my children deserve special treatment over anyone else's, what a ridiculous thing to say. I wouldn't ask any child at Disney to sit on a kerb for an hour in order to see a 15 minute parade. That's not a holiday.

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 07/05/2015 20:06

I don't think my children deserve special treatment over anyone else's, what a ridiculous thing to say.

Yes you do - you are saying that you want to let your child watch the parade from the front but that you don't expect them to wait like everyone else's child to get a good view! And it's not me taking it too seriously, it's me not liking entitled behaviour. Anyway, there's no point in discussing it any more as we obviously have very different ideas of acceptable behaviour.

So, moving on, DogHairs, you mentioned Clearwater beach - have you been before? We've never got there on any of our previous trips (there always seems like too much else to do) but we are thinking about it this time. It looks beautiful!

StrawberryTallCake · 07/05/2015 20:09

Dog here is my itinerary

29th June - ARRIVE!
30th June Magic Kingdom - BOG
1st July Epcot - Teppan Edo
2nd July Rest day
3rd July Universal
4th July Rest day & Dinner out
5th July Magic Kingdom - Bibbidy Boutique and Royal Table
6th July Animal Kingdom - Yak & Yeti
7th July Hollywood Studios - Hollywood & Vine Character BF - Dinner at wishes dessert party
8th July Rest day
9th July Mickeys Backyard BBQ, woohoo!
10th July Renewal
11th July NY - Sleep no more
12th July Definite rest day
13th July Sea World
14th July Hollywood Studios - Hollywood Brown Derby for fireworks show
15th July Universal
16th July LEAVE :( :( :(

We're renewing vows on the 10th then off to NY on the 11th, have to fit in Kennedy Space Centre so might move universal on the 15th or only go once. My DM arrives on the 9th so she will look after little one if we need to go away after that.

I'm also feeling a bit odd about sea world so might cancel that - haven't booked sea world or universal tickets yet.

I think we'll probably spend mornings at parks and then get the children home for naps and rest in the afternoons before heading out again, might miss some of the parades that way though which is a concern.

StrawberryTallCake · 07/05/2015 20:11

Sorry for the dodgy no spaces, copied from excel.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 07/05/2015 20:11

You really have decided to twist things, Lucas, I think you must have other issues.

StrawberryTallCake · 07/05/2015 20:18

You really have decided to twist things, Lucas, I think you must have other issues.

Bit harsh and really unnecessary. This is a thread talking about Disney trips...maybe just leave it as a difference of opinion like Lucas said, go to AIBU to make personal comments and argue.

BloodyDogHairs · 07/05/2015 20:33

Good planning, I'll wake up on the 10th and say to myself "strawberry renews her vows today" lol

You've got loads of good ADR too

Lucas I've been to Clearwater and Daytona beach before I prefer Daytona as you can drive on the beach Grin but I want to go on the dolphin cruise at Clearwater......and Hulk Hogan has a shop at Clearwater that I'd like to visit he was my hero when I was younger

BloodyDogHairs · 07/05/2015 20:35

Agree....I love this thread as its always been drama free.

StrawberryTallCake · 07/05/2015 20:40

Ha Grin I have mentioned it a few times now eh?

I think backyard BBQ is the one I'm looking forward to the most so I really hope you enjoy it!! Just a less organised vibe there and more personal which I think is brilliant. Very much looking forward to finding out what you think.
