Oh, we're rope droppers!

His ears aren't the first thing I'd nibble on to be fair....

BloodyDogHairs · 15/03/2015 21:12

We've never been rope droppers but I plan to be this year!

Jealous of your rope-dropping! We would love to but we go with my parents who seem to view a holiday as a time to relax, the crazy freaks... Grin DH and I would happily set the alarm for silly o'clock and get there asap but the kids are usually in need of a lie-in after a few days anyway. Dad's pretty good at dropping us off early and coming back later with Mum though... This is the first time we've been since DD has become interested in her appearance and she takes aaaaaaages to get ready so that's going to be really frustrating! I'm thinking I may have to ban make-up for the parks and only allow her to wear it in the evenings - I'm not wasting valuable park-time whilst she faffs about with hair and make-up!

BloodyDogHairs · 15/03/2015 21:19

lucas I think we have the same family! Just days ago I told DH that if DD is still dealing with her hair or FIL is fannying around with his gadgets when we are ready to go then I'm leaving them!

HermioneWeasley · 15/03/2015 21:21

We are going with PILs - who won't be up and about at opening, but they will just have to find us later in the day!

StrawberryTallCake · 15/03/2015 21:33

Thanks Lucas I walk around the supermarket there in shock, horror and admiration at the cakes!!!! The wine is cheaper than here from what I remember, very much looking forward to that.

What's a rope dropper? does that mean getting there first thing? We've done this before especially the first few days where we're all up early! The fast pass pre-booking is new though, the last time we were there was 2012.

I have a spreadsheet ready for the fast passes and pre-booked Backyard BBQ, Cinderella's Royal Table, Fireworks and dinner at Hollywood Studios and much to my mothers horror the Boutique for dd1 Grin.

DH has insisted we keep it secret from the children which is killing me.

BloodyDogHairs · 15/03/2015 21:40

Keep the holiday a secret or just the plans?

What age are your DC's?

StrawberryTallCake · 15/03/2015 21:42

The whole thing!! They are 2 and 6. I'm sure the 2 year old wouldn't have a clue what we were talking about but our eldest has been with us before when she was 2 and then 3 so knows!!

BloodyDogHairs · 15/03/2015 21:46

Wow that's some secret to keep! I'm not sure I could Grin

We were there last year and everytime the Disney advert comes on my 2 yr old shouts "we're going there!!"

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 16/03/2015 10:24

Are you staying onsite, Hermione? That's a real advantage when you have people who have different touring philosophies. We are in a villa and only have one car so have to compromise. OMG, the year we went with my DB and SIL was a nightmare - they get up, play with their kids for a bit, slowly have breakfast then think about getting a bag packed and are ready to leave somewhere around noon. Whereas we've packed all our bags and got everything ready the night before and are sitting at the door, waiting from about 8am! We decided on having 2 cars if we ever go with them again Grin We're very different in the parks too. We run a military-style operation - do one ride then march straight to the next, FastPasses all planned, know exactly what we're doing etc. whereas they wander around slowly going "hmmmm, what shall we do next? Not sure, shall we stop for a coffee and have a think about it?" AAAAARRRGGGHHH, NO, GET MOVING PEOPLE - HUP, 2, 3, 4!!! Grin The time after that we went without them and I was in charge of planning - my mum said she couldn't believe how much we get done when I'm in charge Grin

Strawberry, yes rope-drop is the earliest time you get there. So called because you're allowed into Main Street before official opening time and they hold a rope up to stop you getting into the lands. Then at official opening time hey literally 'drop the rope' and you're allowed onto the rides. As for the wine, I can't remember the prices but I know it comes in litre bottles Grin

DogHairs, re. our DDs - this is going to be worse when she realises she's going to have her photo taken in the park a lot! I'm thinking I'll keep a make-up bag and hairbrush in the car and she can do it on the way.

Has anyone been to Be Our Guest? I think that's the only ADR I'll do. I've never been but have always wanted to.

HermioneWeasley · 16/03/2015 14:14

We've got a villa, but each family unit has its own car to avoid scenario you described! Sounds like we would holiday well together - early starts, parks completed with military precision and then we could watch old episodes of "spooks" in the evening!

BloodyDogHairs · 16/03/2015 14:32

Yay I just received my MM card Grin I would've liked it to come with a leaflet with a list of rides I can collect my photos from tho.

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 16/03/2015 14:34

Sounds perfect, Hermione! :)

HermioneWeasley · 16/03/2015 19:11
Grin
LucasNorthsTwiglets · 16/03/2015 19:21

Yay, DogHairs! I loved the first line of the letter - something like "we're so glad you've decided to join us at the place where dreams come true..."
A leaflet would've been good, I agree. There are lists on the web and I'm going to print one out before we go, so I don't miss out. It annoys me that there aren't nearly as many photo rides as there are at Disneyland Paris :(

BloodyDogHairs · 17/03/2015 17:57

If I make table reservations will the restaurant's take a deposit or anything from my card that is linked to MDE? does anyone know.

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 17/03/2015 18:32

They don't take a deposit (unless there are some that I don't know of). They take your card in case you don't show up, in which case they will charge you.

StrawberryTallCake · 17/03/2015 19:02

Most table reservations don't but Cinderella's royal table and Mickey's Backyard BBQ definitely do - they tell you that you have to pay for it though so you will know when you're booking.

BloodyDogHairs · 17/03/2015 19:03

Ok thanks I didn't want anymore transaction fees on the card that is linked.

I really need to quit looking at "extras" for this holiday, its far too handy having a app where you can click and order things so easy.

BloodyDogHairs · 17/03/2015 19:04

Mickeys backyard BBQ sounds good, what park is that in?

StrawberryTallCake · 17/03/2015 19:06

Lucas I would lose my marbles if I had to wait around, I'm with you on the military style operation before and around the parks. Doddering is for days off around the pool.

StrawberryTallCake · 17/03/2015 19:08

It is in one of the hotels, I really recommend it!! It was my dds favourite event last time as they are dancing with all of the characters, live entertainment for the adults and a buffet BBQ with all you can drink beer (from what I remember) and rose wine. There are less people there than most events so the children (and me) really got special time close up with the characters.

BloodyDogHairs · 17/03/2015 19:09

That sounds really good everything I read on here does, I'm going to Google and book Grin

StrawberryTallCake · 17/03/2015 19:11

It is at the Fort Wilderness resort in the evening on a Sunday and Thursday but seems to have added some weekend dates other weeks - I'll tempt you - BBQ Grin

BloodyDogHairs · 17/03/2015 19:16

oh my bloody god, its sold out for the weeks I'm there! (june) Sad
