Kids will be 4, 3 and 16 months - we want to go away Xmas and New Year - Europe only. Any ideas/advice?

Are you wanting to go on your own - or with a company which specialises in childcare ?

Chalet or hotel ?
What abilites are you?

Medulla · 27/06/2006 18:13

have you seen this company?

Go with a company that offers in-house childcare - like Esprit, Crystal, Mark Warner etc or a Kinderhotel/Familienhotel(although New Year may be booked up already). You will find a list of suggestions on the MN recommendations as a starting point.

tbh you may not have the best of times with 3 so young so don't have too high expectations of them. It could be very cold for them to even be outside to play, the days are short and the Alps have not been reliable for snow in recent years so go for a resort at higher altitude.

Have to say I agree with LIZS with such young children. We went this year with DD (7) and DS (4) and it was great but last year was hard work. DS wouldn't go in Kindergarten. Was fine this year, having been in nursery. DD skied quite well last year but made tons of progress this year. We went to Mottaret (higher than Meribel) at Easter with Neilson and they were great. Rep a bit crap but I think that is normal.

Friends of ours swear by Esprit .... they have to deal with all the tantrums ...

PLEASE don't be disheartened .... IMO the earlier you start - the easier they adapt and the quicker you ALL get on the slopes xx

I back up LIZS, look at www.kinderhotels.com.

Don't expect too much of your 3 year old. I took DS (independently) for 3-4 days last year when he was 3.4. He managed about 20-30 mins per day on skis and would not go to the Ski Kindergarten. I'm glad I did it as an intro but it was really hard work .
