We have rented a motorhome for a week on the 28th July and we're hoping to travel to France, somewhere like Brittany or similar to a site with a kids club/pool etc.
Anyone have any experiance of doing this?
Anyone recommend a good site?
And also, we are unsure of which crossing to take, dover, portsmouth etc because of the length of time travelling or expense.
Please help us out with any experience you may have!
Thankies!

No advice but I am bloody jealous, this is one of my dreams

Siblu have some sites that they own entirely & they are a high quality & do touring holidays so you can book crossings etc with them.

Their site in Brittany is nice, but we loved Les Charmettes in the Charente MAritime which is no further to drive to from Cherbourg than Southern Brittany really.

We have just got back from this site in Brittany.

Mane-Guernehue site

It was excellent for children and adults too! Nice size pitches (though we stayed in a chalet), restaurant, shop, pools, animals, country walks, fishing, childrens clubs etc on site. 10 minute walk to the nearest village and about 20 minutes drive to Vanne.

We took the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo staying in a very comfy cabin, then it was about a 2 hour stress free drive to the site.

This was actually recommended to me by someone on Mumsnet in the first instance but can't remember who it was! If you do a search in the archive and type in the campsite name you might be able to find more. Hope this helps and have a nice holiday

gegs73 · 27/06/2006 21:36

O by the way forgot to say, we booked directly with the campsite as worked out alot cheaper. Ferry was Brittany Ferries and we booked direct with them too.

Nixz · 27/06/2006 22:07

Thanks for this, it seems Brittany ferries have no ferries available for friday or saturdays throughout the summer. It looks like we will have to go Dover - Calais so maybe we need to look at sites in the south of Normandy.

book asap- motorhome spaces are very limited......

Tortington · 27/06/2006 23:14

can't you leave the kids at home and we will all go for a jolly? how many mnetters can you get in a campervan?

are you a eurodisney fan? i thought it was bloody awful but young kids seem to like it.

if you go on the venue camping site and look up bernie rivierie

also near to parc asterix which is much much better than eurodisney for rides and food etc. much less money to spend

Nixz · 28/06/2006 16:08

We are all just Max and Paddy wannabee's!!!!!!!
Tenfour rubber ducky!!!
