on the Norfolk coast. Is it any good ? We're thinking of going this WE as it's supposed to be quite hot. Anything not to miss ?

Where are you driving from, Fredly?

If you like wind/kite surfing and a slightly scruffy traditional english seaside resort (think Skegness or Blackpool without the bling), you'll like Hunstanton. Sea world is OK for entertaining small ones for an hour, but likely to be hot, I'd think. Beaches to the east (Brancaster, Holkham) really lovely, traditional sandy family beaches but are very popular.

You also get hilarious shell suit vs Boden fleece moments at Brancaster when Hunstanton's holiday population bumps up against the 'Islington on sea' brigade from Burnham Thorpe. Worth going for the people watching alone

Old Hunstanton (just down the road)has a nice beach. Brancaster is lovely too. The sealife centre is OK but v.expensive. You can use Tesco days out tokens though. Ds loved it. I was bored

I was asking, cos although I think Hunstanton is nice, I prefer Wells-next-the Sea, for it's sandy beach and little town, or Sheringham for trad seaside town - but they are another drive along the coast. Hunstanton has lovely dunes, an old-fashioned seaside feel, miles of sandflat if the tide is out.

(Gizmo - I am S-London-on-sea - my Mum lives along the coast )

Yes, Wells is quite fun, and has a number of traditional penny arcades where DS and I have wasted a vast amount of cash while waiting for DH to finish sailing a particularly tempting wave break.

It's a lovely part of the world, though, even if you are a windsurfing widow . I'm jealous of your mum, Blu.
