Anyone travelled to Barcelona in August - was it too hot?

Hoping to book for next year either in May or August, travelling with children and wondering if it is too unbearably hot in August or a good time to go? Any advice welcome

Barcelona is a wonderful city, but August can be hot and also humid, which doesn't suit everyone. - you could just decamp to the beach, of course!! May would be a much better time of the year to travel, especially with kids.

Thanks for the reply, we are planning some beach time as well as a bit of sightseeing - DCs are 9 & 12 so probably won't mind the heat but May sounds a better option.

I went this year at the end of July.
The temp was mid 30's
Great on the beach and hotel pool but the tourist bus nearly finished me off

Used to live in Spain - August is not a good month to visit. Apart from the heat it's when most Spaniards decamp to the beach/country residence. Sept - June great. Fab city. Take sensible safety precautions. Enjoy.
